Lakeland Elementary Schools Receive Donations From Cortlandt Rotary

Three Lakeland Central School District elementary schools once again are the beneficiaries of a donation program by the Cortlandt Manor Rotary Club. Third- and fifth-grade students at Lincoln-Titus, Van Cortlandtville and George Washington elementary schools recently received dictionaries and thesauruses from representatives of the Rotary.

Lakeland Grad Jarosz Earns Metro Atlantic Player Of The Week Award

Marist College student Tori Jarosz of Cortlandt Manor has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the sixth time in her career and the fourth time this season, the conference announced Monday. Jarosz set a career high in points scored, along with averaging 26.5 points per game, 14.5 rebounds per game and 1.5 blocks per game, while shooting 63 percent from the field and 93 percent from the free throw line.

Cortlandt Manor Teen Faces Marijuana Charge After Traffic Stop

A Cortlandt Manor teenager faces charges of marijuana possession after he was pulled over in Putnam Valley, according to Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith. Joshua D. Roman, 19, was stopped by sheriff's deputies on Oscawana Lake Road about 5:50 p.m. Saturday for traffic violations, the sheriff said.

Cortlandt Mom Charged after Child Wanders BJ's Parking Lot: Yorktown Cops

Brenda Guererro of Peter Beet Drive in Cortlandt Manor faces a charge of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. She was arrested Feb. 11 by Yorktown police who had been investigating a report from BJ's Wholesale Club staffers from Jan. 30. They said a child had been left in a car; had gotten out; and was wandering around the area.

A Cortlandt Manor woman faces charges of petit larceny in the theft of groceries from a Shrub Oak supermarket, Yorktown police said. Nereida Navarro, 56, was arrested at police headquarters on Tuesday, Feb. 2, after she turned herself in to answer the misdemeanor charge, police said.
