Field Hall Foundation of Cortlandt Manor, NY has awarded $309,265 in new grants through its Spring 2022 grant cycle.  The funding will be used to improve the lives of vulnerable older adults and their caregivers in Westchester, Dutchess, and Putnam Counties.

RIVER JOURNAL: Hunter Begun and Ma’s House Studio Selected for Creatives Rebuild New York’s Artist Employment Program

Former Briarcliff Manor and Cortlandt Manor (Hen Hud class of 2016) resident and current River Journal videographer, Hunter Begun, has received an Artist Employment Program (AEP) grant from Creatives Rebuild New York (CRNY). Hunter’s grant was received in conjunction with Ma’s House Studio, a communal art space on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation in Southampton, New York. Ma’s House features an artist residency program for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) artists, an art studio, library, and hosts an array of art and history-based programs for tribe members and the broader local community. Hunter is a member of the Shinnecock Nation. Hunter will be documenting via video the artists in residence. Other Ma’s House Studio artists receiving grants were Denise Silva-Dennis, Brianna Hernandez, and Jeremy Dennis.....

Cuomo 'alarmed' by nurses' charges of coercion

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he has asked the state Labor Department to investigate New York-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley in Cortlandt Manor after nurses alleged "threatening and coercive behavior" from management ahead of a vote to unionize. "I am deeply alarmed by allegations of threatening and coercive behavior at New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital ahead of a labor vote among nurses at the hospital," Cuomo said in a statement.

A pair of local residents were charged with driving while intoxicated during a fixed sobriety checkpoint conducted in Northern Westchester. Dennis Enriques, 38, of Cortlandt Manor, charged with Felony DWI with a court date of Dec. 3 in the Town of Somers Court.
